Rakesh Mehta’s first Bollywood mainstream venture, LIFE KI TO LAG GAYI, opens April 27th. Here we talk to the talented director, on the eve of his big moment and also wish much success to him and his team. Over to Rakesh:
A little about you as a filmmaker?
I have started my film career very recently, even though film making was my childhood passion. As circumstances at home were not so favorable it pushed me to work overseas for a few years. Eventually the gut feeling took over and i decided to give at least one shot to my childhood dream and showed up in Mumbai. With no formal training in film making I made my first film “Khudakhushi” which did well overseas and won 19 awards. This encouraged me to make my first Bollywood entertainer Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi (LKTLG)..so here Iam with my new film..
What is LKTLG all about?
LKTLG is a funny representation of my impression, of Mumbai’s life style, where people generally are under some kind of stress.
On your ensemble cast?
Since the film is about four different characters it needed good actors and I am lucky to ensemble them in my film, that is Kay Kay, Ranvir Shorey, Manu Rishi and Pradhuman, along with Neha Bhasin who is making her debut.
Challenges during the filming?
The biggest challenge was to connect four stories in one film, and I hope I have been successful in achieving my goal. There was no problem at all shooting it, we wrapped the film in 40 days. I had made my story board before going on floor, so that certainly helped.
Talk a little about your music of the film?
The music is composed by Vinay Jaiswal, it is very catchy and goes with the flow of the story and the characters.
