BALINALE Promotes Indonesia
at Beijing Film Market
Bali, INDONESIA –Beijing Film Market (BFM) promises to be one of the leading global film events and industry platforms in Asia. Held 24 to 26 April at China National Convention Center, the 2nd annual event will feature a series of forums with leading global filmmakers, screenings and an exhibition of international and regional service companies, film commissions and production houses all keen to tap into the potentially huge market China represents.
BALINALE International Film Festival continues to expand its reach by attending the three day event to explore a possible exchange of programs, as well as, introduce Indonesia Cinema and the potential the country has to offer in film locations, story ideas and creative resources. BALINALE is represented by Cofounder and Festival Director Deborah Gabinetti.
According to Gabinetti, ‘Chinese cinema has received both commercial and critical acclaim abroad and is particularly well received in Indonesia. We are extremely excited to take part in Beijing Film Market and see this as an excellent opportunity to introduce Indonesia to China’s fast-growing film industry and promote a possible collaboration.’
Currently in its sixth year, BALINALE 2012 is held on Bali, Indonesia from 8 – 14 October where it invites selected international film industry professionals to participate in the festival.
BALINALE has been actively promoting the regional film industry hosting noted filmmakers, conducting film forums and focusing on Asian films. Over the years the program has enjoyed the support of Motion Picture Association and participation of Oscar®, Emmy®, BAFTA® and Cannes award winning filmmakers including; Jan Chapman, Lee Changdong, Richard Horowitz and Davina Belling. BALINALE 2010 Audience Choice Award Winner Xue Xiaolu (OCEAN HEAVEN), studio veteran Donna Smith, producer Stan Wlodkowski and Philip Lee, director David Michôd and Rachel Perkins helping us to achieve our goals of bringing together films and their makers as a gathering of global creativity.
BFM is hosted by the Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) and supported by China’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and Beijing Municipality. In addition to BFM, BJIFF will host the Summit Forum of World-Renowned Film Companies on the theme of “enhancing core competitiveness” and “exploring opportunities for cooperation”. Speakers include senior executives and industry leaders from China and abroad.
As a director of Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet), which includes Mr Jiang Ping (China Film Group) on its Advisory Board, Gabinetti participated in the 9th annual Changchun Film Festival presenting the Best Director Award to Xu Geng for HEART OF ICE alongside renowned director Yu Tien Ming. Gabinetti has also participated in the Hong Kong Film Festival, Asian Film Awards Nomination Committee, and as Committee Member of ASEAN Film Festival 2011.

BALINALE was established in 2007 by Indonesian actress and producer Christine Hakim and Deborah Gabinetti, director of Bali Film Center.
