Every so often a film comes out of India, which is meant for an audience that is global. In the past we have had films such as Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Salaam Bombay, Lagaan, Mother India and this year could see one more, Nank Shah Fakir, the film on one of the most influential persons of the last few hundred years. What makes this film, directed by Sartaj Singh Pannu (who made his directorial debut with Soch Lo), is the amount of painstaking research and the attention to the larger than life characterizations of a larger than life human being, who touched, and continues to touch, countless lives.

The film, produced by Harinder Sikka, has the involvement of Oscar winner, Resul Pookutty as a Co producer  and music by Uttam Singh (Dil To Pagal Hain). The principal cast includes, , Adil Hussain (Life of Pi) and National Award winner, Arif Zakaria, Manav Kaul, Darshan Dave and seasoned veteran Tom Alter, amongst others.

Finnish musician Tuomas Kantelinen, who composed music for The Legend of Hercules has rendered the background score . The film was one of the “noise makers” in the Cannes Market 2014.

Sartaj is Mumbai based filmmaker, directed, scripted and produced his first Hindi film “SOCH LO ‘  which was   independently released  WORLDWIDE in 2010-2011
It  did receive a very favorable reviews in the West, probably the only Indian film to premier in PARAMOUNT STUDIOS ( LA )

Sartaj, started shooting nanak shah fakir in November of 2012, it was the first attempt to make  an International film on Sikh History with a comprehensive production budget
