Picture this. A man, is told in the middle ages of his life that the religion he has practiced all along is not the religion he was born in. Now also picture this is a comedy. Total chaos follows and a laugh riot. That is essentially the upcoming Dharam Sankat Mein. Now take three of India’s finest actors, Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah and Anu Kapoor and you have the makings of a classic. This film threatens to be the Oh My God of 2015. Here is a quick chat with the leading guy, Paresh Rawal:

(a) What is your role in the film all about?

My character finds out one fine day that although he has lived a Hindu all his life, he was actually born a Muslim. This throws his world into chaos. What happens next, forms the crux of the film.

(b) What attracted you to this film?

The story, the script and the message. The bottom line is that Hindu, Muslim or Christian apart, it is essential to be a good human being.
(c) On sharing screenspace with some very solid co actors, like Naseer, especially in a comedy?

An absolute joy!

(d) On working with a first time director, in this case, Fuwad Khan?

Very clear headed, never departed from the script and whatever he wanted was communicated very clearly, there was never any doubt in his mind. Although a first timer, he had spent a lot of time as a DoP, and knew the drill.

(e) After so many years in Bollywood, what excites you to face the camera?

Still many things to do. But a good script and an assembly of good artists still energizes me, and also to be a part of good cinema.
