DHARAM SANKAT MEIN – THE FIRST TRUE COMEDY OF 2015

2015 has seen some solid films, but they were all intense films and nothing wrong with that, but as an audience we want to see the whole gamut of emotions. So it is with some relief and some excitement, that we welcome the first true comedy of 2015, in DHARAM SANKAT MEIN. The film will draw comparisons to Oh My God, and so be it, but the difference is, in that one, God appeared, in this it is left to the humans to solve their issues, so makes it more a slice of life.
The highlight of this film, which takes off, on Gippe Grewal’s rocking number, is Paresh and Anu Kapoor. It is not that Naseer is left behind, his role is smaller in scope, which of course he does full justice. Also the highlight of the first half is the fact that Paresh’s character does not try to be funny, he is just going through the motions of the commotion that is unfolding in his life, as is Anu. The fun is in their being not funny, but truly believing that they are doing the right thing, in a wrong world and this makes the first half, a laugh riot.
The second half, does become a little serious, but then that is also the highlight of this film, it is not a forced laugh, it laughs at the world we have created and the ups and downs that the character experiences. In fact the second half, is about the heart, but in a non preachy way. But the second half will give this film an identity of its own.
All in all, this is the first in 2015, for the entire family. Watch it as a sit back and relax film, cause it is not any more. Yet it is not slapstick, nor crude, just sometimes it also makes us think, cause that is the reality of life. The pace is quick, yet enough to grasp the situation. All in all an entertaining watch.
Watch it for that actor called Paresh Rawal and that actor called Anu Kapoor, whom I am predicting a slew of awards, as best supporting actor.
