Go into DISHOOM expecting nothing life changing, and life will not change, but you will emerge a more entertained person. That is the USP of the film and although it tries a little too hard by trying to throw in every tried and tested trick, it does have its moments. The highlight is the smart use of cameos. The script allows it to do so. So we have Rahul Dev after a long time, Akshay Khanna in a stylish extended cameo, Akshay Kumar, NargisFakri and Parineeti, all adding immense value to the film. As entertainment goes, this film has it, although it does appear to be trying too hard to fit the commercial landscape. The film luckily has only one song, so that keeps the story going along in crisp pace and the popular sub continental topics of cricket and betting have been well intertwined in the story.
The film has it all, humor, suspense, thrill and does a decent job of keeping you on your seat. From an acting point of view, John is his stiff self, but luckily Varun carries them home, as a team. A couple of senseless items in the script come out as very glaring, but other than that, this film should entertain the entire family. Overall recommendation – It really is about time somebody told John Abraham that there is more to acting than going to the gym.
